Default powdercoating...

Just want to see what everyone thinks about powdercoating exhaust parts. I have a friend that had his turbo hot side powdercoated and after a while realized that it actually kept so much heat in that it swelled the turbo seals which created some oil blow by. I've also heard of it creating cracks at weld points on exhaust manifolds. Has anyone ever experienced this or heard any negative issues related to powdercoating or any heat treating? Could it insulate a little too well?

Its possible it insulates a little too well, cause most powder coating, is done to keep heat out. So it will, like you said keep heat in....I would get a nice blanket for the hot-side, and then just wrap the exhaust. They also sell a spray that hardens the wrap, once you have it on. So you may want to just look into that.
