hey my buddy has an 89 supra with a 7mgte and his engine wont rev past two grand would anyone know or could possibly think of what it could be?

Try the Maf on also check your fuel filter & pump filter. on my 87 NA had a simlilar problem when I first got it and it turned out to be a rusted out fuel tank and the pump filter was soo clogged it was running lean and wouldnt rev past 2krpms.. good luck

Could be a number of things, definitely sounds like the MAF. Firing on all cylinders?
