Default Detail: C32 AMG Benz (wet sanding, polish, etc)

Car was brought to me in decent condition, but had no 'pop' to the paint, and you couldn't see the metallic flakes. He wanted all visible scratches removed, and the scratches that he 'tried to remove', which just wound up scratching the clear. I spent about 9 hours total on this car, because it's his daily driver, and he needed it back the same day.

Upon getting the car, I gave it an ONR wash, and pulled it in the garage to wipe down and inspect what I was getting myself into:

Silver looks clean, but this car needed a major polish. It had almost no shine/flake to the paint, and there were scratches everywhere.

One of his biggest concerns was the hood. It had about 3-4 DEEP scratches that a wool pad and aggressive compound would not pull out, so I proceeded to mask everything off, and get to work.

Hood area masked off everywhere I didn't want pad dust, wet sanding, and buffer burns to occur.

Here are a couple close-ups of the scratches on his hood:

After close inspection, I proceeded to wet sand, starting with 3000 grit, only to realize it wasn't enough. So I stepped it up to 2000 grit, and that seemed to do the trick. :thumbsup

Here are a couple 'during' photos of the wet sanding process:

And after about 45 minutes or so of sanding/polishing, we have this:

I then proceeded to mask off and polish both fenders:

After that, it was on to the front doors:

Next up, the passenger rear door (driver's side needed a bunch of sanding):

Driver's side rear door/pillar shots (before):

These areas needed a tone of work, so I got to sanding:

Unknowingly, making a frowny face. How appropriate. LOL

More to come next post!

After finishing up polishing the front/rear bumper, I removed the tape:

And then pulled it out for a 2nd ONR wash:

I thoroughly rinsed/cleaned the engine as well.

Here are some 'before' shots of the engine:

Here are some 'during' shots:

Here an some 'after' shot:

The car was then pulled back in, hand dried with microfiber towels, and 2 coats of wax/sealant were applied:
