It's been a while since I posted, so here's a pictorial update of the car:
New Paint and Body work (still waiting on sideskirts)
PT74GTS (2.5 outlet housing for now to fit existing IC setup)
After HIN the auto gets thrown out and an R154 with a Spec 2 disk clutch goes in, along with some 880cc injectors and MAP ECU 2. The car needs more, but that should safely get it in the 550whp range on pump gas for starters. The stock head 1jz spools the 74 amazingly well, I can't gauge a true test due to my WG opening at 10psi for untuned reasons, but I'm 5psi by 3500rpms in 1st from a idle launch. On the highway it pulls like a jet engine to 8500.
are you going to redo the front seats gray or do the back seats black ?
Back seats black, and two tone the interior black/gray. I just never got around to it yet. Interior style isn't big on the list, I'll worry about that after I figure out my exact plan for a transmission. The more I think about it, I'm leaning towards a TH700R4. 5spd will just ruin the car in my eyes, I built it to be turn key sit in the seat and drive, and not a "race car".
You and I are on the same boat. I wanted to make sure I kept it a relaxing ride. The only shifting I do is with my thumbs on the steering wheel. I'm going to have this transmission built rather than dealing with American transmissions and bell housing adapters.
I had the SupraStick on my car for a long while, it was nice and fun, but due to my HP requirements with a 74mm it's just not possible to build a A340e to withstand 700lb torque. I had a good discussion with BL, and they said I can gamble with one of theirs, but it's a waste of effort.
Honestly a GM conversion isn't a big deal, easier then going 5spd. TH700R4's are quite famous in the Grand National world, they have no issue doing 8's with them.. I don't see why it can't handle a slower lexus. I'll call up TCI today, it should run around $1200 for the tranny.
